I’ve often thought reading some sports writers that they were resentful of athletes and that helped form their “eye”- a those who can, do; those who can’t, write about it kind of thing.

I discovered Doug Glanville’s OP/Ed pieces last year and loved hearing a voice who lived inside the baselines and not someone who lived outside them looking in. The feeling was similiar finding your blog and now The Newhan’s.

Thank you for the link. Bookmarked.

Oh great Morgan. Now I’ll be spending even more time in front of my monitor instead of being outside playing with the other kids.

it was a good piece – about being available, that is – up until the silly steroids tirade.

on no planet was griffey a better baseball player than barry bonds during the 90s.

i am tired of people appointing junior as “steroid free” based ONLY on the fact that they happen to like his persona. i would also like to point out that junior had endless injuries during the 90s because he absolutely refused to do what was necessary in terms of working out to keep himself in shape.

actually, truth is that i am most tired of people – both fans and media – insisting on deifying/demonizing baseball players, ESPECIALLY when it is based on very little information, or personal appearance.

and i wouldn’t be surprised if griffey really WAS in the clubhouse, taking a nap. and i am also not real too surprised that 2 players told the beat guy about it.

    • Lisa, how do you know if he was working out or not? I don’t think Griffey did steroids and it has nothing to do with his personality. Finally, just like the rest of these statements, I don’t know if he was asleep or not. There is no way for me to know so I don’t write about it.

Rocky Dennis, Tim Saragusa, and the Great Gazoo thinks Barry’s head was a little out of control.

    • Joe, baseball players are the same cross section as fans. Some guys are good and some are bad. Fans make decisions based on virtually zero credible information. For the most part, they like great players and hate struggling players.

  9. Hey, Morgan…Saw the piece in NY Times today about Bryce Harper, 17-yr-old phenom…
